It checks if your skills meet the standards that skills assessing authority set to work in your nominated or relevant occupation.

Unlike other certificates, a skills assessment is a separate requirement that an applicant for a work visa needs to apply for and an independent organisation in Australia assesses it.

A positive skills assessment result means your skills are suitable for your nominated occupation, while a negative result indicates that you are not suitable for your nominated occupation.

Applicants must contact the relevant assessing authority and prepare well because every assessor has its own procedures, timeframes and charges.
