To assist with Australia’s economic recovery, further changes have been made to the Working Holiday Maker (WHM) program.
In a joint media release with the Former Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, Josh Frydenberg announced that Working Holiday Makers (WHMs) can now work for the same employer for more than six months.
This means WHMs in any sector anywhere in Australia can work for the same employer for as long as they want without requesting permission until 31 December 2022.
This will also apply to Bridging visas that were granted right after a WHV.
Working Holiday Maker visa holders can enter Australia without applying for a travel exemption – only if they are fully vaccinated with an Australian-approved or recognised vaccine.
The government hopes to attract around 23,500 backpackers who are still outside the country, to help fill critical worker shortages.
Australia’s entry requirements are updated regularly. Make sure to check for the latest requirements on the Department’s website before travelling.
