To further strengthen Australia’s connection with the Philippines, a new route has been finally made available through Philippine Airlines’ non-stop flights between Perth and Manila since 27 March 2023.
PAL will operate the service with an A321neo three times weekly, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
This announcement made by Hon David Templeman, Minister for Culture and the Arts and Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown is the result of a partnership between the WA Government, through Tourism Western Australia, Philippine Airlines and Perth Airport.
“This exciting new route will inject more than 52,000 seats into the market each year. We’re keen to see more Filipino students choose to study in Perth to help the education sector as well as our tourism and hospitality markets. The same is true in reverse. With more than 7,000 islands and amazing beaches on offer, the Philippines also offers Western Australians an attractive holiday destination,” said Kevin Brown – Perth Airport’s CEO
Australia aims to unlock new business and tourism opportunities with the Philippines within WA.
“The Australia Philippines Business Council welcomes the recent announcement of Philippine Airlines direct flight from Perth to Manila. According to the 2021 census, there are over 46,000 Filipinos in Western Australia that can benefit from this service for travellers seeking more direct connectivity to reconnect with families, and provides fantastic opportunities to build upon existing trade, business and international education growth,” Vice President of APBC Western Australia, Louisa Cotter added.
PAL President and COO Capt. Stanley Ng also said during PAL’s 82nd-anniversary celebrations that this is the airline’s first new international destination since the pandemic.
The Philippines has become the 9th largest international market for Western Australia arrivals since the state’s border reopened.
