Pearson, a top learning company, announces major updates on its PTE Academic products.
Known as one of the leading English language proficiency exams in the world, PTE Academic is constantly being improved for both test-takers and organisations.
A shortened PTE Academic exam duration
PTE Academic will be reduced from three hours down to two hours starting November 16, 2021.
Applicants and organisations won’t have to worry about this change as accurate assessments of the test takers’ English language abilities are still guaranteed.
The shortened PTE Academic exam will have fewer questions than before, but its overall format and scoring scale will remain the same. It will have the same 20 question types and test all four language skills.
More than 3,000 institutions worldwide, as well as governments of Australia, the UK, and New Zealand, will still recognise and accept the shorter version of PTE Academic for visa and immigration purposes.

Simpler PTE Academic score report
PTE Academic test results will become easier to understand as the score report will be updated from November 16, 2021.
Aside from the overall score, the report will still show the test taker’s scores for Communicative Skills but will no longer show scores for Enabling Skills. It will be replaced with a new skills profile that will help test takers identify effective ways to improve their scores.
PTE Academic Online
Pearson introduces an online version of the shortened PTE Academic exam which will be available from November 16, 2021.
Applicants who are unable to go to the test centers or prefer to take the exam at home due to the ongoing pandemic can finally choose to take it online. A computer with a webcam, reliable internet connection, and a quiet background is required. PTE Academic Online will be open for test bookings on October 25, 2021.
Although PTE Academic Online is identical to PTE Academic, it is currently not accepted for visa applications or migration purposes.
